I have been an active paramedic since the early 1990's and have always had a fascination with the human body and its ability to heal itself. As I aged and tried to stay active it seemed like I always had a ache or pain. Then after running a marathon in 2009 I decided to get a massage to see if that would help in my recovery. The next day I felt great! So after the next several races I got a post race massage but it didn't stop there. I started getting massages during my training which not only helped in recovery but increase my performance. I felt like I was a younger version of myself. In January of 2010 I ran the Goofy Challenge in Walt Disney World. The Goofy Challenge is a two day event were you run a half marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday and a Marathon (26.2 miles) on Sunday. I got a post race massage after both races and again I felt great and recovered in record time. During the massage after the marathon I talked to my massage therapist who also happened to be a retired professional tri-athlete about massage. The rest is history. I enrolled in the Pittsburgh School of massage therapy that spring to start my massage education.
